The Choosing Wisely® campaign continues to generate conversations about improving care, both here in the U.S., as well as internationally. Read more in this week’s Recommended Reading:
- In “The Choosing Wisely Campaign and Its Potential Impact on Diagnostic Radiation Burden,” two radiologists at Johns Hopkins University examine the possible effects of Choosing Wisely imaging recommendations on reducing unnecessary procedures and radiation exposure. They state that, “Radiologists would do well to stay informed as more imaging tests are added to the Choosing Wisely recommendations, so that they can keep a watchful eye for evidence of overutilization among their referral bases.”
- The Texas Medical Association explores the Choosing Wisely campaign and what it means to their members in “Choosing Wisely: More Value, Less Waste, Shared Decision-Making.” (Note, the article begins on page 25.)
- Dutch cardiologists discuss the cardiology recommendations created by the specialty societies as part of Choosing Wisely and argue, “There seems to be an important task for the Netherlands Society of Cardiology (NVVC) to consider a comparable program in the Netherlands.”
